Gorey is set to become a ‘Town of Things’ following funding of €73,200 through the government’s Digital Innovations Programme.

The Town of Things (ToT) is a public realm sensing project comprising of a network of interactive, modular sensor nodes that will be installed in locations throughout Gorey to collect real-time open data on the town’s environment, infrastructure, and activity for research and public use.

The project will also include an on-street engagement platform to add a playful layer to the public realm and to encourage citizens to interact with everyday street objects. It is hoped the provision of real-time data about Gorey through a new website and the sharing of open data with researchers and the public will encourage citizens to use this data for innovation.
